As of now...

Praise the LORD that we are safe, alive, and together!

The flood waters have receded but none of the vehicles will work and we are still without power. I'm not sure what this means for our trip up to VA and then our flight to Seattle.

I was a big dummy and ate a little of my favorite Harris Teeter Southern Milk Chocolate Ice cream so poor Claire is pretty miserable. Eating that darn ice cream was not worth it!

You should definitely run to the store at the last minute for almond milk, Lara bars, water, organic baby food, and tofu for Kelly!

I has the audacity to wash Kenley's blanket and giraffe...

it didn't go over so well, I thought that her head might start spinning around in circles...

Next time I will have to be more sneaky!

People meet the Pineapple Slush
Pineapple Slush meet the People

There, now that the formal introductions are out of the way you can make this yummy drink! It is so simple and I am willing to bet that you probably already have a can of pineapple on hand just waiting to be used up!
Perfectly refreshing on a hot summer afternoon!

Pineapple Slush

Ingredients
1 Can Pineapple (I used sliced but any type would work)
Ice

Combine pineapple (including juice) and ice in a blender and blend into icy deliciousness!

*This also tastes great when I throw in a strawberry or two!

Bloggy Weekend!

Saturday, August 13, 2011

This past Sunday, we headed down to Seattle to have lunch at Picolino's with Kim and her husband Ryan. Kim writes over at Newlywoodwards. She was the first non-family member to read my blog and comment on it, so when I heard that she would be in town for vacation I emailed her to see if we could meet! Even though we had an aloof hit man for a waiter we had fun getting to chat and get to know each other! Thanks for coming to lunch with us Kim (&Ryan)!
Monday, Kimbe and I headed back down to Seattle to attend a taping of New Day Northwest. When I found out that Mama Pea (Sarah Matheny) author of one of my favorite food blogs Peas and Thank You was scheduled to be on the show, I emailed for tickets right away!

While we were waiting for the show to start I saw Emily from Daily Garnish walk in! Emily's blog has been a favorite of mine for a few years! I don't know what got into me but I saw her and gasped and said, "That's Emily!" Then I jumped up and grabbed Kimbe to have her take a picture of Emily and I. But then once we got to her I got so nervous to talk too her! I basically asked her for a picture with me and then walked away. I am such a dork!

The Host Margaret Larson

Ricky Shroder- He is a bit before our time...

Mama Pea!! Sarah was so sweet! She signed the cookbook that I brought and we got to chat a bit! I highly recommend that you go pick up a copy of her cookbook! Her humor about motherhood is infectious and her recipes look delicious! I plan on making her zucchini bread recipe tonight!

Mr. Seattle- He is in a firefighter calendar.. Kimbe wanted the picture with him..

"The Dawg Father" Don James and his daughter Jill Woodruff- Don James became a legend when he was the UW football coach. I thought Grandpa and Gma Marcy would enjoy seeing this pic!

We also met some new friends! Hi Jenna and Krista!

Being an audience member on a live TV show is really fun! Clapping and cheering on cue is fun and a bit tiring! I also won another autographed Peas and Thank You Cookbook! I really want to go back and be an audience member on the show again soon!

Copying Sissy

This picture was taken on the day we started Claire on solids, Kenley really wanted in on that rice cereal action!

Queen of the Nursery

Monday, August 8, 2011

Apparently being Miss Costco was only the beginning...
Now her ladyship is enjoying residing over the church nursery.

Seriously though, she sat like (straight faced) that for like 5 minutes. :) Hilarious!

Yesterday I learned that we have porcupine in our woods. I didn't even know we had porcupine in this area.

How did I learn this little gem of information you ask?

Leave it to Sadie...
Well of course, our blind Sadie girl got into a brawl with a porcupine. She lost... or rather, we lost. $442.29 to be exact. She had to be taken to the vet to remove the quills and there were so many that they had to put her under anesthesia. I am thankful that the vet was able to remove the quills and give her some pain medicine... but seriously $442.29?!?!?!...including the $68 quill disposal fee.... Really? I have a trash can that I can throw them into for free!

Day 18

Thursday, August 4, 2011

I am back on the Shred bandwagon! Let me tell ya, it's a doozy! I am in phase 2 right now and it is tough! I am shakin' in my boots at just the thought of moving up to phase 3 in 2 days.

In the beginning, my motivation was that if I made it through all 30 days I could buy myself a new pair of workout shoes (I want a pair of Vibrams) and some exercise clothes. Now that I am over halfway through I am continuing not because of the shoes but because I am loving the results that I am achieving! My arms feel strong and my clothes are fitting so much better!

It really is true that one healthy decision leads to another! Since starting the Shred I have become even more determined to make sure that everything I eat is nourishing for my body! I feel like I have jump started my new healthy active lifestyle and I couldn't be more thrilled!

I highly recommend that you give The 3o Day Shred a shot! It will hurt, but its worth it!

Kenley's 2 year check-up August 2nd 2011

Wednesday, August 3, 2011

I took Kenley in for her 2 year check-up!

Despite how the picture looks, she actually did a really good job of cooperating for the Dr. and Assistant!

She got to stand on the big girl scale for the first time!
She weighed in at a hefty 21.8 pounds! That puts her in the 3rd percent! She hasn't had a percentage since she was 4 months old! Way to get a number Kenley!!!!
She also had her height measured the big girl way! Though she wasn't crazy about that! She is 87 cm tall which puts her in the 65th percent for height. We have a tall skinny girl!
Her head circumference was 47.5 cm which is about the 35th percent.

They say that you can double the height that they are when they are two and that should be the height that they are as an adult. If this is true Kenley will be 5' 8.5"?!? Definitely not taking after her Mommy! Did I really do that math right? That seems way tall!
