B + K 10 years!

Thursday, September 22, 2016

On Friday, September 16th 2016, Brian and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary! I use 'celebrate' in the loosest sense since Brian was super sick all weekend. My awesome cousins gifted us with a weekend up in Birch Bay at their time share!

We had a yummy BBQ dinner at Skagit River Brewery on our way up to Birch Bay!

Not quite how I thought we would be toasting 10 years together! ;)

Most of the weekend was spent with Brian napping and me reading Kenley's Waldorf Essentials Grade 1 curriculum. We also watched 2 movies and played Castles of Burgundy, Catan Dice and Pinochle. We are so wild and crazy! ;)

The sun broke through the clouds so we went down to the beach to get some fresh air!

Happy 10 years Brian!

First Day of CC 9-15-2016

Our first day of CC was Thursday, September 15th 2016!

It was also my first day of being the Director of our new Classical Conversations campus!

I scheduled us for the first Family Presentation. We presented on our favorite board games and how we like to turn any game into a CC review game.

Candyland is our favorite way to review! I am going to do a whole blog post on our favorite review games soon!

First Day of School 2016- 9/12/2016

Cultivate Christian School (for exceptional girls) is back in session!
(Homeschoolers get to do school in their jammies, which is even more fun if they are periodic table themed jammies!)

We had a special breakfast of cinnamon rolls and fruit while we did our Bible time. Last year we started working through the Virtue Training Bible and we will continue that until we finish it up. We pick a character trait each day and then go through those verses. Anyone have any recommendations for what we should do after we finish this? We are really enjoying it and I highly recommend it!

Mondays are going to be wet-on-wet watercolor day. Since it was the first day of school and I wanted it to be extra special, I let the girls use all 3 colors at one time. We will go back to using just one color and then move to adding a second color as the year progresses!

We will be using the pages that they water colored as covers for their main lesson books.

This year for curriculum we will be continuing with Classical Conversations (I will be directing our new campus! More on that later!). We will also be using Rhythm of Grace Christian Waldorf Kindergarten Curriculum for Claire and Waldorf Essentials Grade 1 for Kenley. We will probably throw a little Spell to Write and Read in there occasionally too!

I am so thankful that I get to homeschool these girls! I never thought I would be a homeschooler and I had no idea how much I would absolutely love it!

Inspiration found at the mall...

These would be so easy to make...

This guy... Ask him about the bunny ;)

Wet on wet watercolors...

I sure love this guy...

All around Everett there were pianos for a little while! The girls loved playing on this piano outside of our favorite food coop!

Passports for the girls because WE ARE GOING ON A CRUISE in November with the Ronk side of the Family!!! I am so excited!

Next time you make scrambled eggs, top them with chopped tomatoes, a bit of cheese, and a bit of basil!  You can thank me later :)

Our dog lover...

We discovered SnapChat this month... In case you were wondering what Kenley will look like as a teenager...

We went to the Everett Aquasox Bark in the Park and took Kobe, he was NOT into it...

The girls and Kobe were asked to run out on the field with the players for the Anthem... Kobe wasn't into it and he got off his leash twice. Haha naughty little booger! The girls ran out to be with the players anyway :)

They called all of the kids and dogs back off the field, but Kenley and Claire were too busy talking to the players to notice, so they had to send a Frog Squad member out to get them! hahaha!

Getting balls signed by the players...

We doggy sat for a week. Kenley was a master at helping with the PT for Max. Here they are doing his "curb work" :)

There is a super cute little fairy garden on our walk...

Daddy got home really late one night so we sat outside to enjoy the gorgeous colors of the sunset!

The house that I have always loved and admired from afar has been on the market. One day they were having an estate sale so we were able to be nosy and give ourselves a tour! These bedrooms had a shared secret passway through the closet! So fun! It's still my dream house even though now I know I would change a lot of things on the inside! haha

The Heavens declare the glory of God! The skies proclaim the work of His hands!

Sweet little Brooklynne (my cousin's baby)...

I was picked to be a tester for a new Christian Waldorf Kindergarten curriculum! I made this cover page with my Silhouette software and then printed the curriculum and had it bound at Staples! The binding cost less than $6 and I just love having an actual book to hold in my hands! I'm sure I will have more to say about the curriculum as we get started going through it! I am excited about it! We are starting school on the 12th and CC on the 15th!

Cousins!

We threw a surprise 70th Birthday for Grandpa Ronk!

Brian's cousin took some family pictures (We are missing a few people)!!
This is the preview she posted on Facebook! I married into a pretty great family!
