Kenley turned 2!

Sunday, July 31, 2011

Kenley June turned 2 years old yesterday! Last year she had a crayon themed birthday party and this year she had an ice cream themed party! I had so much fun with the decorations! I made some tissue pom pom ice cream cones and Grammy bought Kenley a soft serve ice cream machine! It was the perfect addition to the party!

I think that Kenley consumed more sugar yesterday than she has in her whole 2 years of life!

She missed out on a nap due to the party but she was a really good trooper for most of the evening while my side of the family stayed for dinner!

My mom got us a pole to measure the kiddos on! She called it a festivus pole? I guess its from Seinfeld or something... anyway.. it will be perfect because we can take it with us from house to house measuring our kiddos!

Happy Birthday Kenley June! I can not believe that it was 2 years ago that you made me a mother! I could not ask for a sweeter little girl! It is a joy to be your Mommy!

Mommy, Daddy, and Issy love you so much!

749 pictures were taken with my camera yesterday... It was so hard to narrow it down! Someone needs to take away my continuous function!

Miss Costco

Miss Costco (Kenley Ronk) was escorted around Costco today while she waved at her adoring fans and munched on granola bars. It's a rough life but someone has to do it.

My favorite breakfast

Tuesday, July 26, 2011

On our most recent trip to Chelan, Kenley watched a Dora the Explora video from Leavenworth all the way to Chelan.... That is a lot of Dora on repeat! "Where are we going? Clap Clap Clap. Where are we going? Clap Clap Clap. Blueberry Hill!" AAAAND repeat eleventy billion more times.

Little did Dora know, we were indeed headed toward Blueberry Hill! Whenever we go to Lake Chelan for vacation we try to make it to Blueberry Hills for breakfast. Blueberry Hills boasts of scratch made country cookin' and they aren't kidding! Every time we go I order the Ma-Chaaa-Ka which consists of eggs scrambled with onions, peppers, bacon, corn tortilla strips, and cheese served with sour cream and salsa! Yum!

This breakfast burrito is a play on those flavors. I could eat one of these everyday. Correction. I have eaten one of these burritos everyday this week. :) Enjoy!
My Favorite Breakfast Burritos

1 Tortilla (heated in micro 10 seconds)
2 Eggs
1/2 Onion Sliced
1/4 Green Pepper Diced
1 Tbsp Coconut Oil
S & P to taste
Salsa
Crushed Tortilla Chips

Saute Onions and Peppers in Coconut oil over medium heat until nice and caramelized. Once caramelized add in the 2 eggs and get scramblin! Place scrambled egg mixture in tortilla and add a sprinkling of crushed tortilla chips and a big drizzle of salsa before rolling tortilla up into a burrito! Enjoy!

This is also great with cheese and sour cream if you don't have a dairy hating baby!

*Tip- I eat a lot of these burritos so I like to saute up a bunch of onions and peppers at one time and then keep that mixture in the fridge all week so I can quickly scramble up my eggs and then add in the precooked peppers and onions.

Funny Girl

Sunday, July 24, 2011

Kenley is turning into such a ham! She loves to be "funny" and I always catch her doing something silly and then secretly trying to get my attention so that I can see just how funny she is.

Today is was a beanie on the hottest day of summer (i.e. only hot day of summer) and shoes that are 3 sizes to big.
Dancing is always a sure fire way to up the funny factor.
Another "funny" antic of the day was to wear her empty oatmeal bowl as a hat. I have learned that sometimes it is okay to let her get a little messy for the sake of fun.... especially if she is getting a bath after dinner anyway!

Yes she did eat oatmeal for dinner... She isn't too keen on taco salad :)

The Chococado

I have a new shake obsession! This shake is so good that Kenley and I totally fight over who gets to drink more of it! I have even had to resort to hiding from her while I enjoy mine!

Don't be scared by the ingredients! Just give it a try!

The Chococado

In a blender combine:
1 Avocado
1 Large Handful of Spinach
1 Spoonful of Cocoa Powder
A few drops of Stevia to taste
A dash of Vanilla
About 1.5 cups Chocolate Almond Milk
Lots of Ice

Blend up and enjoy!

We have a 7 month old!

Thursday, July 21, 2011

Claire turned 7 months yesterday! She is still the most mellow baby! She is definitely in the put everything in her mouth phase! She has the sweetest laugh and it is even sweeter when Kenley is the one who made her laugh! I seriously can not imagine having a sweeter baby. Sometimes I think that she is extra sweet to me because I have to forgo eating dairy for her :)!

She had a Dr. appointment the day before yesterday and weighed 13 lbs 8 oz. Her head circumference was 42.5 cm and her length was 62 cm. She did great at the appointment except for when the Dr. placed the tongue depressor in her mouth to look at her throat.... she gaged and threw up all over me. Fun! :)

The doctor actually thinks that Claire is sleeping for too long of stretches at night! What?!?! She sleeps from about 8:30 or 9 until about 7 in the morning! I definitely do not plan on starting to wake her up! I think that if she is a great sleeper I should continue to let her be one!

We started her on cereal yesterday too!
I was waiting until she seemed ready. I'm still not sure if she was ready but we tried anyway!
She hated it! She probably only swallowed half of a bite. I think I might try giving her some avocado today instead of the cereal because I wouldn't really want to eat that cereal either.

This is not the typical Claire face :)

Sometimes I get a little discouraged about how much work two little ones is, but then I look at Claire and can not imagine my life without her in it. Her sweet face definitely snaps me out of that funk! I am so thankful that God has given us these 2 sweet little girls!

Fun on the Deck

Sunday, July 17, 2011

The house's deck had this great enclosure so that the kids could play on it without us having to worry about them falling in the water. We put two kiddie pools in it and the kiddos had a blast playing with the water!
She kept trying to use the cups as shoes...
I love these little foot prints!
Amy and "Meese"

James decided that he was thirsty...
So of course Kenley copied him...
Silly Kiddos!

Jay and Barb

Before this trip I had only briefly met Jay and Barb at Jay's 60th birthday where Barb gifted him with a leg lamp just like the one from A Christmas Story!

Jay spent time this week serenading Claire and teaching Kenley to say "Hey You" whenever she saw him! There was definitely no shortage of attention for our girls this week!

Now I know that there is so much more to Barb and Jay than a leg lamp and I hope that we get to see them more often!
