Fun

Saturday, January 29, 2011

Tonight I got to go in the hot tub! Three cheers for not being pregnant right now! :)

Tomorrow we are having pictures taken by Chellie Dee Photography! I am totally neurotic so I spend the better part of yesterday agonizing over what we will wear. I think we are going to go with the blues... but that could change at any moment.

You know how much I love love love Starbucks right? Well check out these adorable pictures taken by DrewB! I totally would love to take pictures of B and I like that and have them printed for our kitchen!

Sunday we are going to see Brian Regan! I am excited. Brian is over the moon thrilled! Maybe I will even get him a snow cone :)

That's all for now folks! I hope that you have a wonderful wonderful weekend!

Kisses!

Super helpful Big Sister :)

1 Month Old!

Saturday, January 22, 2011

Thursday, Claire turned 1 month old. Its so crazy to me that she is already exiting the newborn stage. She has grown out of almost all of her preemie clothes because she is so long. She is a really good baby and she has gotten herself into a pretty good sleeping routine. She spits up a lot... like I have to change her bedding every time she she sleeps. So I need to go buy more bassinet sheets today!

Thursday morning I tried taking newborn pictures of Claire.. I am not a good photographer yet. These are the only two that turned out sort of decent
Friday was my due date. Crazy to believe that she was supposed to be born yesterday! I guess she can officially be considered full term now :)

She let me do pig tails!!

Sister Love

Saturday, January 15, 2011

Kenley loves being a big sister! Her favorite things to do are to give Claire lots of kisses, to pet Claire's hair, and to help Mommy burp Claire by patting her back. Kenley has been so sweet and gentle with Claire it is so adorable!

While I was taking these pictures I was looking at what I had already taken and then when I looked through the camera lens again I saw this sweet little hand trying to put Claire's paci into her mouth. This picture completely melts my heart!

Goodbye NICU!

Friday, January 14, 2011

Sunday morning before church we received a phone call from the NICU letting us know that Claire was cleared to come home! We were actually pretty shocked since we thought it would be another week or two! So we headed to Target before church to pick up newborn size diapers!

This is the sign from the door to her room. It made me smile everyday because 1. It wasn't pink! and 2. It has cute birdies and a little owl on it!
Here are a few shots of the room where she spent almost her whole first 3 weeks of life:

This is our favorite nurse Abbie! She was seriously the best, I was always so happy when I knew that Abbie was her nurse for the day!

Claire has been doing so great at home! We went for a check-up on Tuesday and she had gained 2 ounces! I know that I keep saying this but it is so surreal that I should still be pregnant right now!

Doing Great

Saturday, January 8, 2011

Claire had a great day yesterday! She is up to 6lbs 0.4oz. She nursed a 40ml and a 43ml yesterday which are both record highs for her! Her full feed amount right now is 55ml so she is getting so close to taking in full feeds!

Her umbilical cord fell off yesterday too! I can't believe she is that old already. I remember so well when Kenley's fell off one Sunday night at Mike and Rosa's!

So... What happened?

Thursday, January 6, 2011

I had a follow up doctors appointment Tuesday afternoon and since I was heavily medicated during most of my hospital stay, I had a lot of questions about what happened to me.

The doctor said that the uterine infection that caused my illeus after Kenley was born likely caused scar tissue to adhere my uterus to my small intestine. Therefore as Claire grew larger my intestines started to kink around the scar tissue.

During my two in one surgery they had to remove a great deal of scar tissue and resection my small intestines in those areas.

My doctor said that no one at this hospital has ever seen this happen to anyone before and that this is something that maybe happens to someone every fifty years. That fact really makes me laugh because I just always seem to be that one random person who these crazy things happen to!

Claire is doing great, many of you have asked when she will get to come home. Honestly, we have no idea and it will probably be awhile still. We promise to let you know as soon as we know! It is highly likely that baby Aiden Friedlein and baby girl Wehrman will both be home before Claire.

The nurses know Claire to be the feisty girl on this floor :) I think that it's probably due to her being made up of 94% boneless buffalo wings :)

Daddy's first day back at school...

... Must mean that Kenley will only eat ketchup for lunch. Silly girl!

The Kick

Sunday, January 2, 2011

I think that this x-ray is so neat. Typically doctors never take x-rays of pregnant women because of the minimal risk of radiation to the baby, however with me they had to to see what was going on. I just love that you can see her whole entire tiny body!Recovery for me is going pretty well. Mornings are definitely the hardest. But I am at the point now where I don't NEED the pain medication exactly every four hours so that is so good!

Have you seen the movie Inception? If not, you should because its good... But if you have then you will know what I am talking about with my post title.

The first thing that happened when I was coming to out of surgery was that I could feel the doctors or nurses smashing down so hard on my stomach, it was the most pain that I have ever felt. The problem was not the pain exactly but the fact I was still sedated so I could feel everything and do nothing about it. I couldn't move or speak but I could feel pain. All that I wanted to do was scream out and tell them to stop but I couldn't, it was so scary!

Due to this traumatic awakening from surgery, my body was having trouble falling asleep. I would start to doze off and then all of a sudden I would jolt, gasp for air and wake up. (Just like a kick!) It was really annoying and they actually had to start giving me anti-anxiety medication so that I could sleep. The doctors think that I had a slight case of post traumatic stress disorder and that my body was just too scared to let me go to sleep again.

How weird is that!?!
Thankfully it has stopped happening and I can fall asleep again!
