Easter Baskets!

Wednesday, April 1, 2009

I love this idea for an alternative to an Easter basket. I think it is a great way to ring in spring! Basically you just get a wide shallow terra cotta pot and fill with potting soil and then grass seed. Then you can put all the random Easter basket things on top of the grass once it has grown! I think that I like it so much because the kids will be so involved in the whole process from decorating their pot to growing and watering seeds. I am so excited that we are going to get to do all these fun projects with our kids!

Note: Yes, I do want to do Easter baskets and an Easter egg hunt with our kids, but I also do plan to place the focus for our children on the real reason for Easter and that is that our Savior Jesus Christ was nailed to the cross by each and every one of our sins. On the third day He rose fulfilling the prophecy and allowing for the Holy Spirit to come upon us so that we might be saved.

If you are wondering... I am still on the fence with how to handle Santa. I have never been a huge Santa person anyways but I really also don't want my kid ruining Santa for everyone elses kids. Any suggestions on that one?

Hey, Keri!
This is from a kid who grew up knowing that Santa was a fairy tale. My parents decided to always tell me the truth when I had questions about anything.Oh, and about ruining it for other kids I don't think it would because I would stand up to my friends about it and they wouldn't budge,so I don't think you need to worry about that. :)

We don't do Santa but we are planning to tell Lily that other kids believe in him and that there's no need for her to tell them anything different.

I'm on the fence about what to do with Easter myself...

I like the idea of telling that other kids believe in him and that that is okay. Brian is just so outspoken that I think our kids might be too :)
