Sweet Tooth

I am going to challenge myself in May. For the whole month of May I am not going to eat sugar.

Yikes!

This is totally out of character for me since I LOVE my sweets. Lately I feel like my body has become addicted to sugar. I am constantly hungry and my food cravings are never satisfied so I keep eating everything in sight. Its time to detoxify and cut the junk out of our diets! I am really going to focus on the nutrient density of the foods that we are putting into our bodies. Brian is up for the challenge! Except that he will still drink sweet tea since its his last month in the south to enjoy it.:)

I am going to challenge you! Do you think that you can make it the whole month without sugar, high fructose corn syrup, and artificial sweeteners? Join me! We can keep each other accountable and help each other find new healthy recipes!

So.... Are you up for it?

***Edited to add: I will still be able to use sweeteners like honey and pure maple syrup.*

Um, I love you, Keri, but the answer is a resounding 'no.' My diet is already restrictive, and I have few pleasures in my life. I can't see myself doing this at all. That would be Stephanie's Last Stand.

Good luck, though. I'm sure you can do it, if anyone can!

Dunno, you're the one who bring sweets at the fellowships! LOL Anyway, that would be hard coz I want me some icecream now that it's getting warm!

I will still be bringing goodies on Sunday nights! Just now they will be a little healthier!

i have been doing NO dessert for about 3 months now (unless its offered to me at someone's house & it would be rude to say "no thank you" & except for my vacation to Cali/NC!) It was REALLY hard about the first week & now I am SO used to it most of the time its not hard at all! And I am one who would skip meal so I could eat dessert & not feel as bad about it! I was eating MULTIPLE sweets a day & I am down to NOTHING! I still use splenda in my ice tea & a Tbs. of brown sugar on top of my oatmeal... BUT NO DESSERT! I feel MUCH better & Ian loves that I am eating WAY healthier too! You can SO do it if I can... just ask my family & Mo! ;) hahah! Can't wait to see you in a month+! YEAH! Love ya!

Wow, so proud of you for making this commitment. We have a candy dish at work and it is so hard for me to stay away from, so for the month of May I will refrain from that :) There is a book called Sugar Blues that I read years ago, and I think the info still applies today, if I can find it I will send it to you, then you will really want to give up sugar :) X O
P/S I use to use br.sugar in my oatmeal but now use honey and like it just as much, and Agave is a good natural sweetener too :)

Kerri. I will pray for you! No, really... that is a great idea. I really should join you in that challenge, I just don't know if I am ready for it. I find myself (especially while Derek is gone) putting the kids to bed and then eating all of the junk that I bought for them. Plus, I can't stand veggies!

Hey Keri! Way to go! There is a grocery store here called Wegmens and they have the greatest selection of whole food, organic, and all natural items. I've been really concerned about not eating anything with high fructose corn syrup in it too. I just bought some organic sugar to use instead of what I already have, but I'm pretty sure that my coffee creamer is not so great for me...good luck! I look forward to hearing how it goes!
