Claire's 1 year old check-up

Wednesday, January 4, 2012

I know that I have said it before, but man, our pediatrician is SO CONDESCENDING! I can not stand her. She basically not so subtly implied that I am not feeding Claire, I shouldn't be nursing her anymore, and that her dairy intolerance is all in my head and somehow my fault. GRRRRR!

Our kids are small. I don't see a problem with them being small! They have small people genetics! If its not good for adults to be chunky, why is it good for infants to be chunky? It just makes no sense to me! Why would she be "better" if she weighed more? How would that positively impact her life?

{If they weren't hitting their development milestones or if they were lethargic and didn't look healthy then obviously I would think it was a big deal but really, Claire is totally healthy and hitting every milestone that she should be!}

The doctor even ran a blood test on her last month and all of her numbers were totally normal!

Okay, Rant over :) Here are C.Lo's stats:
January 3rd 2011

Weight: 15 lbs 2 oz below 0%... The corpsman said if he were to guess he would say -45%
Height: 27.3 inches 5%
Head Circ: 17.7 inches 45%

I looked back in the blog archives and it turns out that at Kenley's 1 year checkup she weighed 15 pounds 6 ounces... Super similar!

Thanks for the encouragement Carol!

Have you tried coconut milk yogurt for Claire? Coconut milk would give her the calories and is dairy free. It's not quite the same as regular yogurt, but my taste buds think it's a good alternative.
