For some reason my baby shower post did not go up when I had scheduled it to. But fear not, I just realized and it is up now!! It is right below the lampshade post. Enjoy!

WARNING: DO NOT ATTEMPT

Monday, June 29, 2009

This covering a lampshade with fabric project was much more trouble than it was worth! I am happy with the outcome but really it wasn't worth the trouble. I think the problem was that I had to use a bell shade since I could not find a drum shade anywhere. A drum shade would have been so much easier!

Our poor kids that we have after Kenley are definitely not going to get nurseries as detailed as hers.

Baby Shower

Sunday, June 28, 2009

Yesterday our church threw us a baby shower. They really blessed us with lots of cute baby stuff. Michelle made my cake to match my nursery fabric! It turned out so great. Melissa did the devotional it was so touching and she definitely made me cry! She used the letters in Kenley's name. I am going to get her notes tomorrow and I will post what she said. Then after that Jenny got up and surprised me by reading letters from both of our moms! That made me cry even more! It was so great that they got to have some involvement in the shower!

Sorry I didn't get more pictures, but I forgot to charge the camera after I got home from camp so the battery started to die right after we got there.

Camp Was Awesome!

Saturday, June 27, 2009

Seriously, I can not believe that it is already over. I want to go back now!!! It was hot but it wasn't nearly as hot as they had predicted that it would be, we think that was because we had so many people praying that I wouldn't go into labor that God kept the weather nice. :)

Here's our girls!
Rick Cash (Stephen's uncle) was the speaker, He does optical illusions and the kids all loved it! Their explanations of how he did the tricks was hilarious! His messages were packed full of scripture and they definitely pricked my heart as well as the kids hearts. After morning chapel he would come in dressed as different Bible characters. It was awesome because the kids attention spans would wane during the sermons but when he came back dressed as a Bible character and told them that persons story, their eyes were totally glued on him the entire time.I had a lot of fun with Kristen this week too, she is too young to be an official camper so she gets to be an unofficial counselor. :) We made lots of popsicle trips. She cracks me up, one time when the kids were all at recreation time and it was just her and I she said, "Isn't it nice without all the kids around and its just me and you, its so much quieter." lol. During pool time Kenley was kicking me really hard so I put Kristen's hand on my belly and Kenley kicked her right away! Here reaction was so precious! She was so excited and hoped over to Melissa to tell her all about it! Here we are with our popsicles. :)I also got to spend a lot of time with Melissa and get to know her better. She is such an example to me of a great Christian mother. While we were at camp we realized how similar our salvation testimonies were. It really was such a treat getting to spend time with her. I love all of the Goodfellows so much!

The last night of camp I got to pray with one of the girls from our Church and she got saved. It was awesome. God was definitely working in all of the kids hearts this week. He is such and awesome God!!! This is Makayla right after she got saved. Please pray for her, she attends our AWANA program but is not from a Christian home.
Our kids were all really good, there was a few kids from the other churches that were "too cool", watching them seriously made me want to write a letter to EVERY teacher, camp counselor, and youth worker that I have ever had and tell them how sorry I am that I acted like that!!! So if you were ever one of those people for me, THANK YOU for putting up with me!!!!

Here is the group picture of all three churches together.
I cant wait to get the opportunity to go back to camp! I am so thankful that God made it so that I could go. I am already planning for next year!!

35 Weeks!

Here is my 35 week belly picture taken @ camp!

I'm headed to camp!

Monday, June 22, 2009

I am leaving for junior (4th-6th grade) camp today! I will get back on Friday! Everyone thinks I am crazy for going since the temperature is going to be in the 90's but I am really excited to go and spend time with these kids and help them learn more about our Creator! I hope everyone has a great week!

Pray that I dont go into labor while I am gone!!

How could I forget?

Saturday, June 20, 2009

In my last post I totally forgot to post on one of my most loved food places!!! I dont know what I was thinking but it probably has something to do with the fact that we dont have Taco Time here. Its sad really. I have even had a dream that we got one here, I was really excited and then really disappointed when I woke up and realized it wasnt real. :)

Okay I think I have filled you in on all of my favorite foods now!

My Top 5 Favorite Foods

Friday, June 19, 2009

My days have been revolving a lot around food lately so I thought that I would share my top 5 favorite foods!

No. 1-

Hands down my favorite food ever is Artichokes! I just love them. To prepare them I simply cut off the long stem, rinse, and steam for about 50 minutes. I used to enjoy dipping each leaf in melted butter (Lots of people like to dip them in mayo, Ashley!!!), then I decided to cut back to just cutting up the heart and dipping those pieces in butter, but now I just skip the butter all together! Much healthier and I dont really miss it.

Here is some health info just in case you needed a little push to try them:
Nutrition Facts
One steamed artichoke has about 65 calories, no fat and 10 grams of fiber (that meets more than one-third your daily need). They’re rich in vitamin C, folate and potassium and are high in antioxidants. In fact, cooked chokes ranked seventh on the USDA’s top 100 list of antioxidant-filled foods. One particular antioxidant, silymarin (also know as Milk Thistle), is believed to help detoxify the liver.

No. 2-

Blueberries! Yum I seriously love blueberries! We go through them so fast in this household. I am hoping to go pick blueberries the week after next since Brian might be getting to take a few days off of work. I want to go pick them myself even though it will probably be swelteringly hot because I love when the blueberries are big and if I go pick them they can all be big!

No. 3-

This one is bad. Its Taco Bell. What can I say, I love it. I do have a very love-hate relationship with it though because about half of the time that I go there they mess up my order or the refried beans are old. But man, when those refried beans are fresh it is just so good! I'll have a double decker no meat and a bean burrito no onions no cheese please! Oh and dont forget the mild sauce!

No. 4-

Dove Dark Chocolate. I inherited this one from my mom. Eating just one after every meal totally helps my body feel like eating time is over, so that is really helpful with cutting out the snacks. And lets face it Chocolate is just necessary for survival. :)

No. 5-

Donuts! This one used to be way higher on the list, but here in North Carolina the grocery stores dont sell donuts and if they do they are Krispy Kremes that have been trucked in. So the only option is to go to Dunkin Donuts and while that hits the spot sometimes it still doesn't compare to an old fashioned donut like the one pictured above. Everytime we go back to Washingon I overdose on those. Really I think that I ate at least 6 of them @ Ashley's bachelorette party last summer. :) Just imagine what I could do now that I am pregnant! Its probably good that I cant get my hands on any of those! Yum seriously though that image makes me want some soooo bad!

The Honorable Mentions:

Peanut Butter and Milk! Since being pregnant I have consumed massive quantities of both of these!

So what are your favorite foods???

Need a dinner idea?

Make Brown Sugar Barbecue Salmon! I came up with this super simple recipe a little while ago and I make it often. Brian really likes it! Sometimes I serve it with mashed potatoes but this time I made Au Gratin potatoes.

Brown Sugar BBQ Salmon:
Ingredients:
BBQ Sauce (I like Sweet Baby Ray's)
Salmon Fillets
Water
Brown Sugar

Place your salmon fillets in a Ziploc bag, Add about 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup BBQ sauce, Add some water to give it a thinner consistency. Let it marinade for at least an hour. Then on the bottom of a glass baking dish place about a 1/4 inch layer of brown sugar. Take the Salmon fillets out of the marinade and place them on top of the brown sugar. Bake @ 350 degrees for 20 minutes.

34 Weeks

Thursday, June 18, 2009

Only 6 weeks left! I am so excited! This week tons of people have been telling me that "I have dropped", I cant really tell, other than that I do feel her kicking (or hitting) me a lot lower now than I did before. This week I went to Mommy's Basic Training which is a two day class that the Marine Corps offers. Its all about the first year of life with your newborn. It was good. Brian lucked out and didn't have to go with me because of his college class. I was bummed about it because I really really really wanted him to wear the empathy belly. :)

I also went to two breastfeeding classes, one on base and one at the hospital. They were both very helpful and I am really glad that I went.

So that is pretty much everything baby related for now!

Bad Blogger...

Tuesday, June 16, 2009

I know, sorry I have been such a slow poster lately.

I changed up the colors of the blog, I thought I would brighten it up for summer. I have a great idea for a new blog header too! But it has to wait until Kenley is on the outside. :) So this one of my plum tree is just temporary.

Speaking of my plum tree, it has yet to give me any fruit. I am wondering what is wrong with it, I thought that it was about this time last year that it gave us the plums but I might be wrong.

Our really good friends Mike and Rosa's daughter Sam graduated this past Saturday. It was so hot at the graduation, it was in their stadium and the sun was definitely shinning for them. I was sweating buckets, it was so gross that I had to go home and shower before we headed to her graduation party.

In honor of her I made these little graduation cap desserts. I saw them on Bakerella and knew that I had to make them for her. They were a bit of a pain to make because my chocolate covered graham cracker tops wouldn't set, but everyone thought that they were really cute!

Here's some pictures of our dogs because they make me laugh.

I think that Tyson looks like a bat in this picture.
In this one he is just getting sick of me... :)
Sadie wanted some attention too, this was the best one I could get of her. Shes always giving out the high tens.

33 Weeks (Yesterday)

Friday, June 12, 2009

I have pretty much become a sloth. lol. but seriously everything tires me out now.

I have been going through the milk lately too. I bought a gallon on Wednesday and today there is only 1/3rd of the gallon left. I never used to be a huge milk drinker (unless it was chocolate) but now I cant get enough!

I measured around my belly last night and it was 38 inches. I measured again just a second ago and it was 40 inches! lol but I think that is because I just went out to lunch with Brian and some of his Marines and I had alot of pizza. :)

Oh and I cant wear my wedding ring anymore. It is just so hot here that it has become so tight on my finger and I am scared that if I dont stop wearing it now that they will have to cut it off of my finger. Seriously crazy as it is that is one of my biggest fears about pregnancy.

This is pretty

Brian wants Kenley to play the Cello and they way that this guy bobs his head while playing the piano totally reminds me of Brian playing.

You would not believe

how hard it is to find drum lampshades here. Seriously. I have been to target, walmart, ross, marshalls, tj maxx, home depot, and lowes. I still haven't found anything suitable. Any ideas as to other places to look for them?

This one is from Target and I really like the size but I am worried that the green would show through my fabric when the lamp is on. Do you think it would be bad if I just painted the green part white?

Maternity Open House

Tuesday, June 9, 2009

We went to the Maternity Open House @ the hospital yesterday night. They had a power point of what to expect when you get to the hospital and procedures and pain options and stuff like that. It was interesting. I am glad that we went because I feel a little less clueless about the whole process now. After the power point we got to tour the hospital, that was the point where it was like OH MY GOODNESS I AM ACTUALLY GOING TO GIVE BIRTH TO A BABY! Yikes!! Seeing the rooms in labor and delivery and seeing the tiny babies in the nursery definitely made it so much more real to me! I think it became more real for Brian too. We are so excited for our little girl to arrive!

Tomorrow I have a doctors appointment and then I am going to a Budget for Baby class on base. I am not really sure what to expect from this class especially since we already do the Dave Ramsey thing but I hear that you get a bunch of free baby stuff just for going. :)

Weekend Recap

Monday, June 8, 2009

(I apologize in advance for all the smiley faces, I didn't even notice how many there were until I spell checked)

This weekend honestly went by in a blur. We have the house almost put back together! The main things are in place and now we are jut going through the small stuff and picking out things to garage sale.

Saturday we went to breakfast w/ the Payne's @ Baker's Square. It was delicious of course. Then we stopped by The Accidental Artist to get hooks put on the back of Kenley's wall monogram. Once home we put them up on the wall! They look fantastic. They are seriously one of my favorite parts of the nursery. Speaking of the nursery it is almost finished! I will wait to post pictures until it is really finished so that I can do a big reveal :). Saturday was also the Mals-14 Family Day picnic. We went for a little while but it is such a big unit that we barely knew anyone so we just hung out with some friends from Brian's shop. We didn't win anything from the raffle. I was bummed, I had my heart set on the flat screen. :)

Sunday we went over to Mike and Joan's house and we got to see their daughter and meet their new granddaughter. She was adorable and she had so much hair! She was so petite too, Kenley will probably be her size when she is born. :) It was fun getting to visit with them! I miss them!

Sunday night after church we went to Mike and Rosa's. We played Mafia again, it is super fun now that everyone gets how to play and how to lie :). I never get to be the Mafia though, I always get stuck as a townsperson and get killed right away. Its okay though because Brian always gets killed right away too. For dessert I made The Pioneer Woman's Pita Chip Crunch. It was a big hit. I used milk chocolate chips and then drizzled with white chocolate. I also made Snicker's Salad. The recipe my mom makes doesn't include the butterscotch pudding. Brian said it would have been better w/o the pudding mix but everyone else loved it.

Brian is submitting his MECEP package soon. Please pray for us about this! Pray for us that if he gets chosen that we will be able to sell our house and that the move would go smoothly. And also please pray for us that we would be content here if God does not allow Brian to be chosen for it.

Tonight we are headed to the hospital for the Maternity Open House tour. I am excited. Brian not so much. Its so crazy that we have less than 8 weeks left to go!

Voddie Baucham

Sunday, June 7, 2009

I have a link in my sidebar to Voddie Baucham's blog. I enjoy reading his blog as well as listening to him preach. After reading this post I am sickened at the thought of the direction our country is headed. Go read it for yourself, and then go pray for our country!

Poor Kimbe!

Friday, June 5, 2009

Check out how my poor sister is going to look for the next 6 to 8 weeks! Sorry Kimbe! I wish that I could be there to hang out with you! Love you!

32 Weeks!

Doctors...

So my doctor quit on me!! I am not going to take it personal though! I am a little bummed though because she was the only female and now the remainder of my appointments will be with the various other male doctors :(

In other medical news.... Did you know that my sister broke her arm on Tuesday? My mom text messaged me a photo of her at the doctors office. The pre-cast thing they had her wrapped up in went from her fingertips to her shoulder. Poor thing! She should be getting her "real" cast on soon.

Pray for her to make a fast recovery so that she can hold Kenley when she comes to visit! I cant imagine it would be fun to be on a plane for 7 hours with a gigantic cast on your arm either.

The Carpets are in!!!

What a relief! (Yes it is the exact same color as before) :)

(The roomba may have done the vacuuming) :)

When Brian gets home we can start putting our house back together! I am so excited to have our house back! Unfortunately since the carpet is so thick now our doors dont fit. lol. That thought had never even occurred to me. I dont care though because now we can put everything back where it belongs! So what if we dont have doors for awhile right? :)

Here are some pictures of this crazy week.
Sadie learned how to get on the trampoline all by herself
Tyson is still too chicken :)

And here is pretty much everything we own in our living/dining/kitchen area! Yikes... I am so glad that this is almost over!

Also just so you know....

Wednesday, June 3, 2009

From 8pm-Midnight tonight Sonic is giving away free root beer floats!

Just so you know.....

My absolute FAVORITE ice cream in the whole wide world is on sale this week! Buy 1 get 2 free!!!! Seriously the one of the things that I am going to miss the most about North Carolina is the Harris Teeter Southern Milk Chocolate Ice Cream!!!!

Now we just need to get a deep freezer so that I can really stock up!! :)

If you live in a state w/ a Harris Teeter go try this ice cream!!

House Craziness Pictures

Monday, June 1, 2009

will have to wait because when I got my camera out to take pictures, I clicked and then it smelled like it was burning. Nothing else weird other than the burning smell, but I don't want to take my chances so I am going to give the camera a little rest for awhile.

Has this burning smell camera thing happened to anyone else? Is there something I need to do about it?

The Streak has Ended....

I was hoping that my pregnancy had cured my brain of these night terrors but I guess not because I had another one last night. The last time I had one was before the Ladies Retreat in November.

I think they are worse on Brian than they are on me because I only vaguely remember them, But for him he is woken up by his wife screaming and basically all around freaking out. Last nights really freaked him out because it hadn't happened in so long that he wasn't used to it anymore, Oh yeah and probably because I am pregnant too, he probably thought I was in labor or something was going on with the baby.

100% of my night terrors now are about bugs usually roaches, It is always the same scenario though I am lying in bed and the bugs are crawling across me on the bed. Last night though it was a gigantic spider crawling across the wall. I remember when I was younger and I would get them (back then it was always snakes and tarantulas) I would go crawl in bed with Kimberly because it was so real to me that even when I was awake I was convinced that there really were snakes or bugs in my room.

I'm thinking the thing that triggered last nights night terror though was how we slept on our mattress on the floor since the carpets were supposed to be installed today. Ill post pictures of the crazy state that our house is in at the moment a little while later today.

Oprah did a show about night terrors awhile back, I was going to link it in this post but I cant seem to find the video online. It was scary watching it happen to someone else and then to have Brian tell me that that is exactly how it is when I do it. Its weird. I hope its not genetic, poor Brian will never get any sleep.
